Morning Devotion: Read Micah

Micah 6:2  Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel. 3  O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

God asks questions to His people concerning His Grace and Mercy, guidance and love. He asks: “What have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee?”

The perspective of seeing God and understanding Him comes from the relationship we have with God. If you are not born-again, you will not understand God. As a believer, if you are living outside of God’s will you will not understand God.

In our text, God reveals the blessings He has given to His people and yet, they still turned from God. Not only did they turn they accused God of not being right. In the midst of God’s blessing, they turned.

Ezekiel 18:29  Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

Ezekiel 33:17  Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

Ezekiel 33:20  Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.

Often times when prosperity comes into ones life, people have a tendency to become self reliant rather than keeping their eyes upon God. They come to a place where the believe they no longer need God and become scornful rather than thankful.

The Lord addresses this issue here in Micah. He says, in essence, show Me where I did wrong or where I have have wearied you? Obviously they could not show God anything for God always does right regardless of how people see

him. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not out thoughts. He is God, a God far above anything we can see, think or do.

God does leave us with a wonderful truth concerning our walk with Him.

Micah 6:8  He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Do you have a controversy with God? Do you blame God? or, are you thankful?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
