Morning Devotion:  Read Daniel

Daniel 2:31  Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. 32  This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, 33  His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. 34  Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

Daniel was a prophet of God. He was taken when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

Daniel was made a eunuch, a servant, and eventually a leader in Babylon. He was called upon to recall and interpret a dream that Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed. God gave Daniel the wherewithal to interpret the dream.

Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed a dream of an image of gold, silver, brass, iron and iron and clay. This image was a portrayal of the rulers and dynasties that would come upon the world until Jesus comes. Until Jesus comes, these rulers will comprise what is called the times of the gentiles.

Luke 21:24  And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

The dream also speaks of one that will destroy the gentile rule and break it in peaces, that one is Jesus.

Daniel 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45  Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Jesus is the stone cut out of the mountain without hands. Jesus is the one who will destroy the world’s system and set up theocratic rule in the millennium.

The last gentile rule described in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream was of iron mixed with clay, partly strong and partly broken. We are living in those days. Are you ready for the stone to come? Are you ready for Jesus?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
